Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in America. Since the late 80s Angela Evelyn has appeared in film and TV. Her work has been recognized with several awards, among them the 16 NAACP Image Awards. Bassett was raised living in Winston-Salem North Carolina, raised by her aunt in New York New York. The mother of Bassett had divorced from her father at approximately five. Her younger sister later moved into St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett was inspired to become an actor after watching the play Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Earl Jones. In the year 1980, Bassett graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with an undergraduate degree in African American studies. She earned a diploma from the Yale School of Drama. She was introduced to Courtney B. Vance, an actress who was also at Yale and they were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree in African American studies in the year 1980.
